Douglas was born August 7th, 1946 to his parents Court and Shirley Montrose.
He was born in Lakewood, OH where he spent most of his childhood, fishing and playing outdoors with his two other siblings.
Douglas excelled in academic subjects, sports, and graduated from Arroyo High School in 1964. A year after graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army, following in his fathers footsteps. He was commissioned second Lieutenant in the Army and served in Vietnam.
After serving in Vietnam, he worked for the El Monte Police Department and then became a Los Angeles County Marshal. He met the love of his life, Martha in 1972 in traffic court where Martha worked as a deputy clerk. They spent a further 49 years creating a beautiful life together.
They moved to Grants Pass, OR in 1981 with their two kids, Cameron and Audrey. Douglas worked at the Josephine County probation department and the Oregon Youth Authority until his retirement in 2004. He was loved and adored by all of his peers, a mentor and a friend to many.
Doug enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and especially loved to read. Doug would often say that his greatest pride and joy in his life was the family that he and Martha created together. Doug loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He taught them to fish and dance and to laugh and have fun. Most of all he taught them the importance of having a close family.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, his children and 5 grandchildren.
