Jerry Norton Gaines

Born in Griffin, GA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Alice Freeman Norton. Jerry was a teacher’s aide for special needs children at Summit Drive Elementary School, afterwards she worked alongside her husband at their family business for over twenty years. She was a lifelong member of Northgate Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for five year old's for many years.

She is survived by her four children, Stan Gaines (Shirley) of Greenwood, SC, Denise Taylor (Davis) of Yardley, PA, Keith Gaines (Amy) of Simpsonville, SC, and Ashli Gaines-Phillips (Paige) of Spartanburg, SC; one sister, Judy Scott (George) of Greenville, SC; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her devoted caregiver who was like family, Barbara McClintock.

Out of concern for the safety of the community that she loved, the family will have a private graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
