My earliest memory of Marcie was when we were both in the second grade at Clifton elementary school my memory is not of the classroom but of the playground.  Marcie was an outstanding baseball player.  She hit one hit one home-run after another and was much appreciated by her team mates.

Who was to think at that time, that by some trick of fate, that we would later become sisters in law.  We became sisters in law when I married her brother Albert.  It was WW2 and Al was serving his time in the Navy.  I went from Clifton to Los Angeles to live with Al’s family.  Marcie met me at the Greyhound station and before taking the pacific electric car to their house, Marcie took me to Clifton cafeteria.  I was in awe of the beautiful restaurant, its music, decor and its food.  Soon after that Marcie joined the women’s auxiliary core and was deployed to Germany where she met Tom.  After the war they settled in California and our family ties became stronger as we shared several years when we were raising our children.  

My memories of Marcy are many…too many to mention.  I will never forget her.  At the end of every day when I go to bed, I lay my head on two very soft pillows that Marcie made while volunteering at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center.

My Aunt Marcy was my late father's, Albert, younger sister by two years. Seventy years ago she babysat my brother, Al, and me when we were children in Compton. I like to tell the story of waking up in the morning in our backyard. We were dressed, fed and outdoors before we were fully awake. Marcy would be in the house cleaning and then reading the newspaper. At noon we were ushered into the house fed lunch and then back outside. She had a lot of the Army still in her. She once proved to me that she could bounce a nickel off a tightly made bed.

I have many stories to tell about that sweet Lady. They all had the same core: everything she did with my brother and me was done out of love.  She gave us those tight "bear hugs" every time we saw her; even last year when she visited.  She was small but strong. I will always remember her and she will be missed.

For most of my high school years and even some after, I was yet another child/grandchild in the Clark/Marshall household.  I lovingly called Marceline "Abuela". I'm pretty sure that I started doing that only because I was taking Spanish at the time. I'm sure that she tired of Darci and my antics. The late night pizza parties, sitting on the counters, the all night laugh fests while drawing and watching anime, and always taking over her bathroom to shower and do our hair! She always gathered up my laundry with Darci's as if I was just one of the family and always made sure I was fed when I was over. I love you Abuela and you will be missed. 

Marci was a wonderful person throughout her life. I met her through my school mate Brian in Juneau when they moved there. I remember her as a very welcoming and thriving woman, wife and mother. Her service to her country was very commendable and she really was a great role model for her dedication to her family and values. She will be missed and I will never forget her hugs when we saw each other. Her memory lives on!
