AVIS DE DÉCÈS
Doriene Hazel Zimmerman (nee Blois)
15 septembre 1925 – 5 janvier 2021
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother and grandmother on January 5th, 2021, in her 96th year.
She was at home where she wanted to be, surrounded by her family. She will now be reunited with her husband, Art, in heaven.
She is the beloved mother of Cindy, the mother-in-law to Mark, and the cherished 'Nan' of Justin and Samantha. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ursula Dixon. She will be lovingly remembered by so many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Hamilton and Muskoka.
She was a fixture at 'A Muskoka Tradition-Wild Blueberries' stand in Gravenhurst every summer where she greeted customers, friends and family, with a smile and shared many laughs. She will be missed by the local seniors card circuit in Hamilton where she made many friends over the years.
A special thank you to Dr.'s Ayeni and Hatcher and the Stay-Well Program - St. Joes West 5th Campus for their care and compassion over the last several years.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid19 restrictions there will be a private family service only at this time. A celebration of life will take place in the warmer weather hopefully when the restrictions are lifted.
Message of Thanks We would like to express our gratitude to family and friends and co-workers, who surrounded us with love, sympathy and support during the recent loss of our mother, mother-in-law and Nan. We were overwhelmed by the immense support from our friends in Selkirk as well as those from Muskoka. Thank you for all the beautiful floral arrangements, mass intentions, telephone calls, sympathy cards, prayers and words of comfort. We are grateful to Father Robert Sims for his ongoing support and for providing a beautiful service, Father Paul Sims of Chicago for his prayers, compassion and daily phone calls. We would also like to thank Greg and his staff at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home (King and Kenilworth) for their support and guidance through this difficult time.

Dear Cindy, Mark, Samantha and Justin,
Losing a member of the family is always painful, more so when its Mom. Auntie Doriene was simply one of the most lovable people to bless our family. She had such a caring heart. I've thought of her so many times over the last few months while we've all been living with social restrictions. She will be eternally at rest with her husband, Uncle Art. What a sight that would be to see. So lovingly remembered.

Aunty Doriene was always our lovely, kind aunt who was always interested in the lives of others. She enjoyed visits with her sisters in law, who were like real sisters. She enjoyed so many things, like travel, visiting at the cottage, playing cards and spending time with family. The sun rose and set on her beloved Justin and Samantha. We will miss you, Aunty.

Dear Cindy,Mark, Justin and Samantha
Our hearts are broken for you on the passing of your dear Mom and Nan . I’m grateful she remained comfortable at home all these years in the care of her family where she was happiest. We will all miss her: her kind smile, easy laughter, gentle nature - an adorable woman with a lot of love to give. I will miss our visits- she was happy to have some company, reminisce a bit and always made us smile when parting because she never failed to remind us she loved us ‘more’. Until we meet again Auntie Doriene XO

Cindy & family I am saddened to hear about your Mom’s passing. We shared a lifetime of laughs and memories that go back to our childhood on Barons Ave. N., with your Mom. Your Mom was an amazing soul who I loved dearly, although we have not seen each other for years. She had a beautiful heart. I can imagine your Dad meeting her in heaven. They are together again. My heartfelt condolences to you. Love Janice Connon

Sorry for your loss Cindy, Mark , Justin and Samantha.
I have so many fond memories of this wonderful lady. My favourite is the day I took her for a ride in my sports car. Roof down, wind blowing in our hair and a huge smile on Doriene’s face. We ate lunch at a 50’s diner and had just a wonderful time. Got back to the cottage and realized my intention was to go for groceries and I came back empty handed.. but for great memories. You will be missed at the lake Doriene. Sending love. Rest In Peace 💕
