May 3, 1929 - June 6, 2025
James H. Foulk Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a man cherished by many friends, passed away peacefully, at home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep devotion to family and the outdoors.
Born to the late James H. Foulk and Carolyn (Worst) Foulk, Jim lived a full and vibrant life. A natural athlete and outdoorsman, he was a talented baseball player in his younger years and went on to become a respected horse trainer. Jim’s love for the outdoors was unmatched—whether hunting, fishing, or simply spending time in nature, it was where he felt most at home.
Jim shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Gail A. Foulk. Together, they built a life filled with warmth, resilience, and laughter. He was a proud and loving father to Darrin Foulk, Janet Sandillon, and the late Valerie Byorick, with whom he shared a special common bond for the love of horses. The family takes comfort knowing that they are once again united and certainly picked Sovereignty to win the Belmont Stakes.
Jim was known as a fun-loving guy with a sharp wit and a gift for storytelling. His jokes brought joy to everyone around him—he had that rare ability to make friends feel like family and strangers feel like friends.
He was also a deeply proud grandfather to five grandchildren and great-grandfather to four. Nothing made him light up more than sharing stories, teasing lovingly, or watching a ballgame surrounded by those he loved most.
Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Peg Pearson and Jean Zellers, and leaves behind countless friends and extended family members who will miss his humor, his heart, and his enduring spirit.
Everyone who knew Jim felt his warmth, admired his strength, and appreciated his ability to make life just a little bit more enjoyable. His was a life well lived—a life that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A service to celebrate James’s life will be held on July 19 at 11:30 AM at Reality Church, 2301 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA. A gathering will follow at the Village Grande Clubhouse, 1818 Pool Forge, Lancaster, PA 17601
