

Barita Ann Rivenbark, 74, Raleigh, NC, and formerly of Birmingham, died after a short illness August 25, 2015 at The Oaks at Whitaker Glen- Mayview in Raleigh. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 9 at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham. A visitation will follow the service at the gravesite. A Birmingham native, Ann graduated from Shades Valley High School in Homewood and earned a bachelor's degree in art from Birmingham Southern College in 1965. She also earned both master's and master's of fine arts degrees in art from the University of Alabama and a divinity degree from The School of Theology at The University of the South-Sewanee. Ann worked in the art field for several years and was an assistant professor of art at Ferrum College. She retired earlier this year after many years as an antique dealer in Birmingham. She moved to Raleigh in June to be closer to family. She was predeceased by her parents, Teal Alexander and Annie Barita Moon Rivenbark; and her sister, Susan Rivenbark. Ann is survived by Gigi, a Papillion always at her side; and cousins, Clara Safrit Wade, Raleigh, Leonard Y. Safrit Jr., Beaufort, NC, Ann J. McNeill, Aberdeen, NC, and Paul Jordan Jr., Savannah, Ga.. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Library, Homewood Public Library, 1721 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209
