Claudia Wimberly Mikosh, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cousin, peacefully transitioned from this life in the arms of her loving husband, Martin W Mikosh, in the early hours of the morning June 27, 2020. She was the first of three adopted daughters of Irene and Vernon Wimberly of Houston, Texas.

Claudia loved music and sang for many years in her church choir. She trained as a pianist, taught piano and dreamed of becoming a concert pianist. She met her husband of 62 years on a New Year’s Eve blind date and soon immersed herself in creating a family and caring for her children and husband. Claudia was a very caring and charitable woman. During the course of their marriage she engaged her husband, Martin, into donating generously to causes that affected their family but also worldwide disasters as they occurred. She also eagerly assisted fellow parishioners, co-workers, friends and family members with whatever their needs were.

Claudia is survived by her devoted husband and soulmate, Martin Mikosh; daughter Lisa Mikosh; son Todd Mikosh, his wife Stacy Mikosh, and daughter-in-law Lori Mikosh. She leaves behind grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, Joshua, Cody, Skylar, Anya and Ian Mikosh and a great-granddaughter, Vanessa Mikosh.

She will be reunited with her son Damon Mikosh, parents Vernon and Irene Wimberly, mother and father-in-law Katherine and Martin Mikosh in God’s presence.

A visitation and rosary for Claudia will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2020 starting at 10:00 AM at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church, 13350 Ashford Point Drive, Houston, TX 77082. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, July 1, 2020 to start following the rosary. A committal service will occur Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.memorialoaksfunerals.com for the Mikosh family.

I had the privilege of knowing and working with Claudia. She was always very kind to me and I enjoyed very much her love of life. I also saw her show kindness and care of a joint friend (Paul Carollo) as he faced his last days due to illness. I know that she will be missed by all who knew her.

Martin,

Joyce and I were very sad to see the announcement of Claudia, passing in the paper. The virus threat will keep both Joyce and I from attending the rosary, but I want to assure you that you and Claudia will be in our prayers, I am certain that you are thanking God for allowing you and Claudia to have such a happy, productive, and long time together!

My older sister, my friend and confidant. We shared some good times, some bad times, and some sad times. We talked a lot about how lucky and blessed we were that our mother and daddy adopted three girls. Claudia was the first, I was the second, and Phyllis was the third. Claudia was always my ‘go to’ for questions and answers, and I will miss her so much.

A sister is God’s way of making sure we never walk alone. Until I see you again Claudia ...I love you.

I've known Claudia since I was a child. She was my mothers best friend and an amazing friend to our entire family. One of my special memories of her is how she took care of us when my dad suddenly passed away in 1999. She took charge when we were struggling, so much so we lovingly called her the General. She cared so much for everyone especially her family. Marty, Lisa, Todd and all, I pray for your comfort during this difficult time. Love, Kathy Jordan Hoskinson

Claudia is my cousin, and I always enjoyed her company. She would laugh a lot, and was so pleasant. As children, we would play at my paternal grandparents' home on weekends and holidays, joined by cousins Charles and Bruce Wimberly. A special time was when we would all gather at the grandparents' home on Yale Street, and the Wimberly men would thrash the multiple pecan trees with cane fishing poles, while we children would pick up the nuts and put them in brown paper bags. Then we would all have pecans throughout the winter. As adults, we were both married to two wonderful men, residing in Bryan, Texas. Marty worked for a finance company and James was a student at Texas A&M. We began our families there, and would gather on weekends for meals and camaraderie. Great memories! Will miss this beautiful lady!
