Jessica Rose Cortina went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 5, 2020. She was born in Houston, TX on January 15, 1978. Her dad David Phillips precedes Jessica in death in 2019. Jessica is survived by her husband Carlos Cortina and her beloved sons Marcus and Christian Rodriguez (fiancé Mahoganey Bennett,).
Survived by her parents Bob and Irma Palmer of Sealy, TX, sister Tiffany, brother-in-law Chris Maldonado, nephews and niece Christopher, Ethan, & Jubilee Maldonado, and her brother Rusty Palmer.
She is survived by her beloved paternal grandmother Ina Jo Phillips, an author and poet. Jessica was loved and will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She had a loving relationship with her aunt Cynthia Woodard. Jessica’s career was in the Apartment Management Industry for over 20 years. She recently joined a new company and was looking forward to working at this new firm. In February, she went to Indianapolis for a training seminar. She spoke of how much fun she had meeting new people. Jessica laughed as she described the freezing snow. Jessica did well in this industry because she loved working with all kind of people. She treated the residents with respect and kindness. Being bilingual was a skill that helped Jessica throughout her career.
Jessica loved her two sons Marcus and Christian with her heart and soul. She was excited about their futures. We were blessed to have spent our favorite family gatherings Thanksgiving and Christmas with her. Sadly, we didn’t know they would be our last. Until will meet again, for now we hold on to the great memories we had with her.
The family extends a grateful thanks to Jessica’s aunt Danielle Macicek for her generosity of time and ideas in coordinating the memorial. Many thanks to Jessica’s cousins Monica Schoettle, Angela Fulgham and her endearing aunt Lupe Roberton (aunt Pete) of Florida for their help, time and love in the final touches for the memorial on such a quick notice. Jessica would want a special mention about her uncle Hector Cantu of Missouri for always making her laugh and her friendship with Michael Green and his family.
A Christian memorial service will be held at a later date due to the current circumstances.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers and in honor of their daughter Jessica Cortina donations be made to: Lord Send Me Ministries- The Boaz House 34552 Park Green, Brookshire, Texas 77423 attention Christina, Director or visit their website http://www.lordsendmeministries.org/
