Passed away on June 29, 2018 at the age of 84 years old.
Maria loved to sing and was an honorary member of the Houston Liederkranz as well as several other German singing societies both in the U.S. and Germany. The deep love of music shared by Maria and her husband was passed down as a highly held family value.
Maria excelled at all sorts of crafts and was especially fond of crochet and needlepoint. She created many lasting memories for her family when they gathered to celebrate holidays. Her love for her family shone through the incredible meals shared and beautiful decorations adorning their home, made even more special by the time together in laughter and joy.
Service to others being another family value, one of Maria’s favorite activities in later life was volunteering at Cy-Fair Hospital. She loved holding newborn babies, visiting patients, and assisting with the reception area greeting guests.
Maria is preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Walter G. Fritsche. She is survived by her daughter, Monica (Larry) Kubecka, daughter Barbara (Greg) Sorrento, son Donald (Carol) Fritsche, and son Garry (Tina) Fritsche; Grandchildren Sonja Kubecka, Corey (Christine) Sorrento, Travis Sorrento, Deidre Kubecka, Melissa (Benjamin) Comperry, Ryan (Tessa) Fritsche, Nicole (Omar) Aguilar; and Great-grandchildren Kinzy, Gracie, Rylan, Caroline, Graham, Aiyana, and Jace.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any desired memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2018 at Waltrip Funeral Directors. A Memorial Service will be held at11:00 a.m, Tuesday, St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1515 Hillendahl, Rev. Scott Heitshusen, officiating.
