Ray Harvey Ueckert

RAY HARVEY UECKERT was born in Gay Hill, Texas on August 12, 1936 to Raymond and Ruby Ueckert. He attended Jeff Davis High School and later Texas Lutheran College and the University of Houston. He was employed for many years by Western Auto and Safeway (later known as Apple Tree) in Houston. Ray was a strong believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and an active, lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. Over the years he attended Northside, Hope, Park Place, Faith and Epiphany Lutheran Churches. He served as an usher and greeter and helped out when needed. Ray was proud of his German heritage and had a great love for his family.He is remembered as a devoted son and brother, and a generous and fun-loving uncle. His (grand) nieces and (grand) nephews will always treasure memories of him, how he spoiled them! Ray is survived by his twin brother, Roy Ueckert of Houston, and sister, Bonnie Freudenberg and husband, Gilbert of LaGrange, TX. He is also survived by numerous (grand) nieces and (grand) nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by sister, Dolores Utter; brothers, Raymond John Ueckert, Waldo O. Ueckert and Johnny Ueckert.A visitation will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 from 6 to 8pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 10a.m. in the Family Chapel with interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Epiphany Lutheran Church of Pearland or Concordia Historical Institute.
