Princess Mae Mitchell was born to her loving mother Selena Mitchell on June 20,1930 in Montgomery, AL. She was not the only flower in her mother’s garden. She was one of eight children. Princess ventured from home arriving in Indianapolis, IN in the early 1950’s.
It was in Indianapolis where she would later meet and marry the love of her life Robert Glaspy. They enjoyed many wonderful years together and shared six children Pamela, Michael, Robert, Ed, Alberta, and Selena.
Princess passed quietly on May 20, 2022. She leaves her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to continue growing her legacy.
Princess was always in possession of a quick wit and snappy sense of humor. Besides her love of growing things, she definitely had a love of travel and adventure. She enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new places. You would hear her speak about enjoyable trips across America and even overseas. Through it all, she would always find a way to teach or talk about the thing she loved most, her God.
This love was evident in the way she showed a great example of steadfastness and endurance in her personal ministry for decades. She dedicated her life to teaching others about Jehovah as a full-time volunteer. One of her favorite scriptures was Matthew 6:10 where it reads: Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.” This was a treasured hope for her. She once stated she had prayed for that kingdom and now that she knew what it was, she wanted to tell everybody. That she did! She would speak to people in their homes in the door-to-door ministry, even in parking lots. When she was no longer able to move about freely, that did not stop her. Anyone who came to help care for her would hear the same joyful words about God's kingdom.
Princess’ smiles, warm hugs, beautiful flowers, and sweet potato pies will be remembered by so many. In the forefront to carry this memory will no doubt be her loving sister Geneva, her children Michael Glaspy, Robert (Teresa) Glaspy, Ed Glaspy, Alberta Jackson, Selena Bailey along with a host of grandchildren and friends. Sadly, her husband Robert Glaspy, eldest daughter Pamela (Hubert, surviving) Robin-son, cherished grandson Warren Ike Glaspy, her mother and six siblings preceded her in death. We have no doubt that Princess would want us to keep growing in love for God and each other.
