Renell Frye Futch, 75, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of Josephine "Jo" Bedenbaugh Frye Barnes and the late Milton M. Frye.
She was a graduate of Batesburg Leesville High School and Midlands Technical College. Renell retired from Lexington Medical Center. She worked for a few years with BP Barber and Associates before beginning her long career with Lexington Medical Center. She retired at the age of 66.
Renell was a soft-spoken woman with a gentle smile who loved her family with all her being. She was known to always make sure everyone around her was well fed and taken care of, always providing selfless attention and devotion to those around her. She was patient and kind and nothing made her happier than being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She adored them and they adored her.
Growing up in the country, she loved all creatures from an early age. Dogs, cats, salamanders, even turtles, were always under foot. Riding her granddaddy’s horses was a favorite past time. She loved them all.
Many happy hours were spent on Lake Murray with Jerry. They were familiar faces at Sandy Beach over the years. She also loved spending time at the beach on their annual family vacations, especially Isle of Palms. In addition, while she loved her Carolina Gamecocks, she loved watching her sons and grandchildren play sports the most.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jerry Lee Futch; sons, William Bryan Futch and Kevin Michael Futch (Terra); grandchildren, Caleb Bryan Futch, Catherine Leigh Futch and Ellis Lofton Futch; sister, Julia Frye Davis (Dwight); and brothers, Mark Myal Frye and Mitchell Rodney Frye. She was predeceased by her father, Milton M. Frye.
