Johnnie Wasson Staggs

Johnnie Wasson Staggs, 94, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, December 7 from 11 AM to 12 noon with funeral services to follow in the chapel. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mr. Staggs was born on September 19, 1924 to the late Albert and Jimmie Staggs.

Mr. Staggs was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II.

He is preceded in death by his wives, Margaret Weimer Staggs and Evelyn Morgan Staggs; his son, Johnnie Carl Staggs; 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Mr. Staggs is survived by his son, David Staggs; daughter, Libby Clack (Rocky); step-children, Mary Wright (Steve) and James Eades; grandchildren, Samantha Staggs, Matthew Staggs, and Zachary Griffing, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to his special caregivers, Laura Murphy and Nicole Slaughter and a special thanks to the staff at the VA Community Living Center for the care given to Mr. Staggs.
