Janice was born on February 27, 1937 in Douglas, GA to George and Rachel McKinnon. She graduated from Douglas High School and received her Associate Degree from South Georgia College in 1957. Upon graduating college, she moved to Jacksonville where she met Richard Pellicer and they married on April 12, 1958. Together they had 3 daughters, Lynn, Kim, Julie and one son, Richard Jr.
Janice was a true Southern Belle. As a teenager she competed in several beauty pagents, winning Ms. Turpentine in 1954. She cherished her farm life upbringing where she gained her love for gardening and loved to cook her favorite southern dishes. Janice made the best fried pork chops and anything else that involved adding gravy. Janice was an avid reader and played bridge weekly with neighborhood girlfriends. She would be so happy if she had a winning day of bridge. She would have the biggest smile on her face as she pulled out her $1.27 of bridge winnings. Janice was always positive, she never met a stranger and genuinely interested in how you were doing.
Janice was preceded in death by her father George, and her mother Rachel. She is survived by her husband Richard of 63 three years of marriage and children Lynn, Kim, Julie & Richard Jr., siblings Larry, Buster and Susan along with 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A mass and celebration of her life is being held Friday, November 26, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens located at 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. @ 1100.
