Dorothy "Dot" Cross

Dorothy M. Cross, 73, of Parkville, passed away Aug. 1, 2016 at North Kansas City Hospital. A visitation will be from noon-2:00pm, and funeral services will be at 2:00pm, on Fri., Aug. 5, 2016 at Chapel Hill – Butler, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy was born March 28, 1943 in Tonkawa, OK to Thomas William and Reeda Pearl Farrell. She attended Cushing High School and lived there until her marriage to Orvin Cross in 1960. Dot was a member of the Assembly of God in Cushing. They moved to Kansas City in 1962. She worked for Simmons Mattress, Gully Transportation, and retired from the IRS in 2005. While at Gully Transportation, Dot was a member of the Women’s Traffic Club. She loved spending time with her family, especially if there was a game to be played. Dot’s favorites were Wahoo, bingo, Yahtzee, Telefunky, and playing the slot machines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas William and Reeda Pearl Farrell; her children, David and Tommy Cross; her siblings, Bill Farrell, Keith Farrell, Bonnie Farrell-Morton, Barbara Farrell-Rice, Bob Farrell, and Doyle Farrell; and her brothers-in-law, Larry Rice and Jim Morton.

Dot is survived by her husband of 56 years, Orvin Cross; her children, Lesa Cross, Dana Cross, and Gary Cross; her grandchildren, Matthew Cross (Melanie), Ashley Cross-Footer (Rick), Jason Cross, Sonya Cross-Swenson (Erik), and Aaron Cross; her great grandchildren, Maxwell, Mia, Madeline, Sophia, Jenny, and Ashley; her sisters, Charlotte Farrell-Deering (Gary), and Doris Farrell-Patterson (Delbert); and her sister-in-law, Freida Farrell; as well as many other relatives and friends.
