Ross F. Attkisson

Ross F. Attkisson, 87, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away April 13, 2018 at home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66112; with visitation time from 1:00-2:00pm preceding the service. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ross was born May 4, 1930 in Hartselle, Alabama to Luther and Lillie Attkisson. Ross worked at Sav-On and Price Chopper Grocery Stores in the produce department. He loved working in the yard, working in the garage on his wood cut outs for the yard. Ross also worked on redoing old cars and restoring them. He had a neat train set. Ross enjoyed going to the casino.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Lillie Attkisson; his son, Rick Attkisson; his sisters, Mae Howell and Opal McKinnis; his lifelong friend and significant other, Shirley M. Allen Fulton; and his step-daughter, Angela Sanchez.

Ross is survived by his sister, Sue Boyett and her husband Al Trudeau; his granddaughter, Michelle Attkisson; three step-daughters, Barbara Summers, Candy Bean and her husband Judge, and April Howard; as well as step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends and his two beloved dogs, Artie and Bengie.
