

Born on March 22nd 1946, oldest child to Santos & Porfirio Lopez. Lupe was born in Corpus Christi, Texas where he spent his childhood, grew up, and made many lifelong friends. He enlisted in the service before Graduating from Roy Miller HS. He joined the US Navy in May 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1969 as a 3rd class Petty Officer, after serving in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal (Bronze Star).
Corpus Christi is where he would meet Tina and they married in 1966 and would spend many hardworking years together. They had two children and in 1978, they moved to the Houston area to begin a new life for their family. An active member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church he enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1990, he graduated with an Associate in Applied Science degree. Lupe, as he was known, worked in the Houston refineries and wore may hats before retiring from Texas Medical Center. He then divorced and dedicated the next 13yrs to The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo which he loved. He also enjoyed attending the Houston Astros games and the Houston Oilers. He had a love for mariachi music, dancing, Blue Bell Ice Cream, smoking, black coffee and his beer. He spent his last year with his companion Debra Periera while battling pancreatic cancer.
He leaves behind his two children Amy Burkham (Jeff), Edward Lopez (Denise), 7 grandchildren Daniel Martinez (Ashlee), Emily Morales (Alex), Bethany Lopez, Isaac Lopez, Christina Noblitt (Steven), Ryan Burkham (Kassy), Samantha Wissler (Eric), 9 great grandchildren, Brenna, Aiden, Kale, Ella, Jace, Aubrey, Zyla, Andrew & Nora. He was raised with his brother Daniel SanMiguel and sisters, Sylvia SanMiguel and Rosie Irrigoyen. He later became close to many of his other brothers and sisters and enjoyed their company.
He was preceded in death by his mother & stepfather (Santos & Jose Jaramillo), his father (Porfirio Lopez) & many beloved family members.
Lupe passed in peace to be with The Lord, Friday, September 14, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Interment with full military honors will be held at the Houston Veterans Cemetery on Friday October 5th, 2018 at 11:00am.
