Ina was born in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan on August 25, 1928 to William and Louise Pringle. She is survived by: her children, Paul (Judy) Jordan, Joanne Murphy, Wendy (Colin) Olive, Cam (Rhonda) Jordan, and Charlene (Sam) Jones; grandchildren, Kevin, Jessica, Patrick (Whitney), Nicole (Chris), Michelle, Charlie, Mackenzie (Amelia), and Cody; great grandchildren, Stephan, Aidan, Kate, and Liam; and, her siblings, Merle (Ken) Forster, Tom (Myrna) Pringle, and John (Gaye) Pringle. She was pre-deceased by her husband Charlie, her son-in-law Brian Murphy, her parents, and her sister and brother-in-law Jean and Jack White.
Ina lived her values of family, service, courage, and resilience in all aspects of her life. In 1950, she graduated from Nursing School as a Registered Nurse to live her value of serving and caring for others. She was never one to bend to convention and lived her value of courage through her adventurous spirit. At the age of 22, she made the bold move of leaving Saskatchewan to work and experience new adventures in British Columbia. She, again, showed her courageous and adventurous spirit by travelling with a nursing friend across Canada and then to New York and Boston. She was a trailblazer for her time!
In an era when most women worked around the home, Ina had a thriving nursing career working at Kelowna General Hospital. At the same time, she was raising 5 children with her husband often working outside of Kelowna. Ina was dedicated to her nursing career and deeply committed to serving and caring for others. With a kind heart and her commitment to service, it wasn’t unusual to see strangers at the dinner table or sleeping on the couch as she extended help to someone in need.
Ina took great pride in her career as a nurse which spanned over five decades. Through this time there were many changes to her profession which she embraced and adapted to these changes with great resilience.
Ina’s value of family and her faith were nurtured by her parents. She often stated and deeply believed that “Blood is thicker than water!” Even if there was a remote chance of a family connection, Ina considered them family.
After retiring, Ina continued with her need to serve others by volunteering. She lost the love of her life (Charlie) shortly after retiring so she felt the need to fill her days. She was an active member of the Royal Purple and the Kelowna Hostess. If a volunteer was needed, Ina could be counted on!
Ina was a force in life and truly lived her values with her most cherished memories involving her time spent with her family, caring for her grandchildren, serving others through her career and volunteering, and, of course, her many travel adventures. She was, also, an avid sports fan and she demonstrated this with her commitment and dedication to the Kelowna Rockets. She was one of their proudest cheerleaders!
As she aged, Ina showed her resilience by overcoming many challenges. She lived a full life and will be deeply missed by her family.
