Ivan John Wright, 89, of Kokomo, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Waterford Place Health Campus. He was born June 8, 1930 in Fowler Kansas to John H. and Carrie E. (Van Worman) Wright. He married Virginia (Lee) LaFollette on June 7, 1963 and she has preceded him in death.
He graduated from Fowler High School in 1947. He served in the United States Air Force from December 1950 to December 1970, retiring after 20 years. He was an aircraft/engine mechanic/supervisor serving during the Korean War, Cold War, and Vietnam War. He was in Vietnam October 1968 to October 1969. During his 20 years of service he worked on B-36, B-52, B-58, KC-135 and F4-E aircrafts. Following his retirement from the USAF, he worked at Reel’s Alignment for several years. Eventually, in 1973 he went to work at Delco Electronics spending the majority of his time as a set-up in Dept. 873, retiring in December 1995 after 22 years. His hobby was working in his yard and working on his place. He enjoyed antique John Deere tractors and his collection of toy tractors. He was a member of Jerome Christian Church and was baptized in 1975. He was a born again Christian and ready to meet his Lord. He greatly loved and enjoyed his family.
He is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Jody (Gary) Dressel and Teresa (Wayne) Mullins; six grandchildren, Brian (Stacey) Alexander, Jason (Tammy) Alexander, Jennifer (Chris) Riley, Sherry (Jason) Hight, and Christina (Roosevelt) Solomon; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and 1 granddaughter (Brenda Dill).
The funeral service will be Friday, January 24, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel with Pastor Dave Stokes will be officiating. Burial will follow at Albright Cemetery with full military rites performed by the U.S. Air Force and the VFW Military Rites Team. There will be a time of visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service, on Friday, also at the mortuary.
