Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother
Theodore (D.J) was born in West Palm Beach, FL. on March 12, 1945. He died peacefully at Hospice of Palm Beach on Sunday, September 4, 2011. He was preceded in death by his Mother Maurine Kirkpatrick and his sister Judith Hall.
He proudly served in the US Army after which he went on to enjoy a successful career as a plumbing contractor. He was the proud owner and operator of Certified Backflow Protection in Lake Worth, FL since 1987.
D.J enjoyed reading, and was an avid golfer. He volunteered extensively for community and charitable organizations. He was a devoted member and past president of the Lake Worth Lions Club. First and foremost, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family.
D.J is survived by his wife of 44 years, Helga Marjatta (Hyvonen) Kirkpatrick; sons: Theodore J. Kirkpatrick IV and wife, Amanda, of Georgia; Steven L. Kirkpatrick and wife Katie, of Georgia; daughter: Karen Deanne Kirkpatrick, of Virginia; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition, his Father Theodore Kirkpatrick Jr. and siblings: William (Peggy); Stephen (Barbara); Susan (Ron); Charles and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held with military honors on Friday September 16th, 2011 at 1:30 PM at the South Florida National Veterans Cemetery. A private memorial will be held by the immediate family.
