

Dorothy “Dot” Oakley Stephenson, age 85, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Born on August 28, 1939, in Durham, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Dolphus and Lena Oakley.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Larry Stephenson; son, Rodney Stephenson; grandson, Desmond Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bub Oakley and sister, Erva Lee Mangum.
Dot was a graduate of Southern High School in Durham. She worked in personnel with Chemstrand which later became Monsanto Research Department. She also worked as a beauty control consultant for several years. Dot was a proficient musician. She played the organ and piano in church for most of her life. Funeral services and wedding ceremonies were also events that dot was typically asked to play at. Dot was a devout Christian. She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Durham and then an active member of Lakeside Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach when her and Larry moved to the coast in 1997.
