Arnaldo was born on October 4th 1936, in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Isaias and Sofia Rakitta. He grew up in a loving home with his sister Celia. He went to medical school and became a biochemist. In addition, he held several other jobs where he perused his passion for music, travel, and food. He met the love of his life Elena and were married a year later in 1964. They had 3 daughters Claudia, Andrea, and Marcela. In 1978 Arnaldo and Elena decided to take a leap of faith and made the courageous decision to move their family to the United States. As new immigrants Arnaldo and Elena worked tirelessly to achieve the American dream. They opened a restaurant together and their lives in the states began. After the restaurant Arnaldo held several jobs where he always became invaluable. His work ethic was like no other and wherever he went everyone loved, respected, and trusted him. His final career was as a liquor salesman for Allied Beverage Group for over 25 years. His pride and joy was his family. He loved spending time with his adoring wife, daughters and granddaughters Rachel, Alexandra, and Samantha. He loved building things for them, playing with them, telling them stories, dancing and singing. He enjoyed traveling with his family and going to the beach, drinking mate and watching soccer. He was a wine connoisseur and enjoyed the best wines and the best food prepared by his daughter Claudia who became a chef. He was known for his friendly smile, positive and upbeat personality, warmth, wit, smarts and humor. There was nothing he couldn’t do. He was the house mechanic, plumber, electrician, builder, engineer, gardener, teacher, accountant, doctor, chef, dj, bar tender, comic, driver, photographer, movie director, travel agent, therapist, career counselor, cheerleader, all around amazing husband, father, abuelo, brother, tio and friend. His smile could uplift and light a room with his kindness, warmth, and compassion. Arnaldo is survived by his wife Elena of 57 years, his 3 daughters Claudia, Andrea, and Marcela, his 3 granddaughters Rachel, Alexandra and Samantha, his son in law Andrew, his sister Celia and his nieces and nephews and their families Tania, Barry and Sharon and his grand dog Marvin.
A funeral service will be held on Friday May 20th starting at 1:00pm at the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel located at 68 Old Short Hills Rd, Livingston, NJ 07039. Masks will be required. After the funeral we will be going to Mount Lebanon Cemetery located at 189 Gill Ln Iselin, NJ 08830. Shiva will be on Monday and Tuesday from 12pm-4pm and 6:30pm -9:00pm. We ask that everyone please wear a mask while inside the house.
