Geraldine A. Lister

27 mai 192127 janvier 2021

Geraldine Albright Lister went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2021, at 11:46 am.

Geraldine was born in Liberal Kansas to Gerald Emanuel and Anna Coyle Browning Albright. Geraldine studied home economics at Oklahoma Panhandle State College in Hooker, Oklahoma.

During WWII, Geraldine and her mother moved to Long Beach, California, where her brother, James was stationed. It was in Long Beach that she met and married Gerald Lister, USN, (whose twin sister was named Geraldine). During the war she and her mother worked for Douglas Aircraft Company. Geraldine lost her husband to cancer in June, 1986. She continued to reside in Long Beach until February 2010 when she moved to Corona, California.

Geraldine loved to travel and has been to The Holy Land, Scotland, England, France, Italy, Greece, Egypt and Switzerland…just to name a few. It was in 1996 that Geraldine took a cable car ride up the Swiss Alps, and when reaching the 9,400 viewing deck, she started climbing the hiking trail up the Alps…just so she could say she hiked the Swiss Alps at 75 years old.

Geraldine is survived by daughters Janet and Judie; her grandchildren and their spouses/partners Tiffanie & Ana DeuPree, Kristen & Daniel Kelly, Dustin & Stacey DeuPree, Shannon Stelcik; great grandchildren Katelyn Stelcik, Jake Kelly, Kyndal (Stelcik) & Luis (Rivas), Kyelle Kelly, Cameron Stelcik, Elizabeth DeuPree and Myles DeuPree; great-great grandchildren Savannah and Sebastian Rivas; nieces and nephews Barbara & Dennis Yarborough, Bob & BJ Dickey, Tresa & Ed Orr, Brian Albright, Mason Albright, and her sister-in-law Jean Albright. She also leaves behind several grand doggies and grand kitties.

Geraldine was blessed to have some of the most amazing caregivers – her granddaughter, Kristen Kelly, Margie Wilkerson, Stacy Villaneuva and Antoinette Perez – who gave so much of themselves in caring for Geraldine.

If desired donations can be made to The Disabled Veterans and Cancer Research.

Mom and I traveled quite a few places. In addition to her "climbing the Swiss Alps", she was game to try Haggis in Scotland, enjoyed all kinds of sea food at the Sea Palace in Amsterdam, and we both had a good laugh (later) at us spending $86.00 on 2 turkey sandwiches with chips at Harrods in London because we just didn't get the currency conversion yet! She totally trusted me that I knew my way around some of these countries when it was mostly dumb luck that after spending the day sightseeing, I got us back to the tour bus. We ended up with a large collection of umbrella's because we just couldn't get with the London weather and forgot one when we went out...and it rained... so we had to buy another one. I couldn't have asked for a better travel partner. She talked me into taking the train under the English Channel, did some pretty good bargaining on some rugs at the Grand Bazaar in Turkey, and said a prayer at a stranger's funeral in Innsbruck, Austria when we were invited into the Chapel. She danced with a "bear" on the docks in Juneau, Alaska, and attracted the most butterflies at the Butterfly Farm in St. Maarten. So Mom, here's another toast with a Peach Bellini like we did in Venice. So glad I have all these memories - and more. Love you to Reese's Pieces!
