Mrs. Staton was born April 5, 1935 in Ottawa, Illinois, the daughter of the late Ernesta (Bearse) and Dudley Leighton. She passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Staton was a loving daughter, sister and aunt and loved her family. She was retired from the Polk County Probation Department where she worked as a probation officer. Mrs. Staton had a strong-willed personality and she loved cats. She was of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Sue Pounds of Diboll, Sarah Zavala and husband Abel of Lufkin, and Ann Thigpen and husband Joe of Burke; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Staton was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Staton; and sisters-in-law, Dale Bollier and Irene Southern.
Mrs. Staton’s family wishes to extend special thanks to Hospice in the Pines for the loving care shown to her.
