Nora Gibbons McElligott

Nora worked on the family’s farm in Ireland. During WWII, she worked in a munitions factory in England. She arrived in Lawrence in 1947, where she was employed by Pacific Mills. She was married in Lynn in 1960, and worked at T. W. Rogers. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Nora was a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Lynn. She was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 8, Lawrence.

She leaves her children Martin Gibbons of Lawrence, Mary Lou (McElligott) Cloonan and her husband Robert, Frank McElligott and his wife Gerry (Murphy), and Kevin McElligott and his wife Ellen (LeBlanc) all of Lynn and Fred McElligott and his wife Claudia (Locher) of Saugus. She leaves nine grandchildren Erin Schwartz, Patrick, Frank, Monika, Kelly and Casey McElligott, Stefanie Li, Colleen McElligott-Liporto and Maureen McElligott-McKay, and five great-grandchildren. She leaves a cousin Sarah Broderick and her husband Cornelius, and many nephews and nieces including Dan and Shaun Donovan of Lawrence. She leaves two sisters-in-law Ruth McElligott and Florence Carroll both of Lynn.

She was the sister of the late Catherine Donovan of Lawrence, John, Thomas, and Patrick Gibbons, Mary Lane and Dilia Divilly from Ireland and England.

Nora’s funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8 AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church Lynn at 9 AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Tuesday 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Columban Fathers, P.O.Box 10, St. Columbans, NE 68056.
