Theodora P. Freis

Theodora P. “Teddy” Freis, 91, of Rockford, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at River Bluff after a long illness. She was born April 17, 1929 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Paul and Louise (Sutherland) Soteropoulos. Teddy graduated from high school. She married the love of her life, John H. Freis in June of 1947. Teddy was a homemaker who enjoyed tending to her children, grandchildren, and was so excited about her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and playing darts. Teddy was a very social person, who loved being with all of her family as much as she could. She was involved with the Covenant Companions, a group who met once a month. Teddy was the matriarch of our family and will truly be missed.

Teddy is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Dale) Swanson, Kathy Freis, Karen (Jerry) Kosinski and Kevin Freis; grandchildren, Jason Kosinski, Justin (Kali) Kosinski, Tina (Jay) Bush and Matthew (Erika) Swanson; great-grandchildren, Kane, Emilia, and Luke; sister, Debbie Martinkovic; sister-in-law, Mary Kay (Bob) Sterr; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul “Tule” Soteropoulos and Louise Renaldi, husband John Freis, grandson Mark Swanson, sister, Joy and brother-in-law, Bob Freis.

Due to Covid-19, a celebration of life will take place in the spring. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
