

Annamarie “Annie” Garrett, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2017 after a long illness in Woodstock, Ga. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa. where she met the love of her life Gary Garrett. They married in 1947 and spent 56 wonderful years together in North Carolina and later in Southern Florida. Annie spent her early married years working for WFMY-TV in Greensboro, NC as an executive secretary to the president and was also an actor in a variety of live commercials. She and Gary were active in the arts in Greensboro where they both enjoyed performing with the Greensboro PlayMakers. Annie loved to sew and spent many hours decorating her home and raising beautiful flowering plants in Florida. She was very involved with her two daughters and could often be found working on crafts, gardening and sewing matching Sunday dresses and doll clothes. Annamarie is preceded in death by her mother Mary Reil Forchette, her father Osberto “Albert” Forchette, her brother Robert Forchette (Betty), and her husband Clarence “Gary” Garrett. She is survived by her daughters: Diana Garrett, Julie Durden (Dennis) and her grandchildren: Jessica Schaefer, Erik Schaefer (Tiffany), Nicholas Hawks, Alex Durden, Ashley Beslagic (Nedim), and great-grandchildren: Garrett, Bentley, Nash and Fiona; nephew: Matt (Chrissy) of Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends from North Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, Michigan and Texas. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 30th at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 490 Arnold Mill Rd.Woodstock, Ga. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Annamarie’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or to St. Michael’s.
