
Bruce, Michael (Mike) Francis Bruce Sr., 72, passed away November 30, 2016 at his home in Duluth, GA, under the care of VNA Hospice and his devoted family. Born in Louisville, KY, Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Mable and Francis Bruce, brothers Patrick and Charles, and sister Theresa Shinn. Surviving siblings include Anita Marbois of Tampa, Akara Stern (Pete) of Franklin, NC; Bill Bruce (Jane) of Fairview, TN; Kathleen Hayes (Art) of Hendersonville, TN; Vicky Jackson (Carthage, TN); and Tom Bruce (Dena) of Hendersonville. Mike left behind his wife of 49 years, Norma; daughters Kelli Hammit (Randy) of Page, AZ and Carrie Bruce-Andrews (David Andrews) of Duluth, GA, along with son Michael Francis Bruce Jr (Giselle) of Lutz, FL. He was the proud Grandpa of 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Mike graduated from Father Ryan High School in Nashville, served in the U.S. Air Force at MacDill AFB during the Vietnam War, and went on to earn his AA degree from Hillsborough Community College in Tampa. He was very involved with the Pasco PAL as a football coach and president in the 1980's, was a founding member of the Couples Sertoma Club in Tampa, and served on the Pasco Feeding America food bank board to supply food for those in need. Mike was a dedicated TB Bucs and TB Lightning fan. After retiring from Capital One, he left Lutz to enjoy his golden years near his beloved Smokey Mountains where he was free to express his love of drawing items of nature and by recording his memoirs in various journals. A celebration of Mike's life on earth will be held in the spring to herald his new place in the universe. He will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered by his friends and family.
