Dr. Robert A. Plunkett

Robert Ace Plunkett, age 91 of Acworth, Georgia, passed away on November 24, 2019. He was born in Burbank, California, on September 18, 1928, to Marie and Robert W. Plunkett. He was the youngest of seven children and the only son. When he was five years old, his family settled in Englewood, Colorado, where Robert grew up. He served in the Army as part of the occupation of Japan in 1946-47. After leaving the army, he attended college in Colorado on the GI Bill. He moved to Texas in 1954 and raised his family there. Later, he graduated from the University of Texas with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 1969. He retired from the Federal Government where he was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services in Washington D.C.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, tennis, gardening, reading, and serving his county and local community in many ways.

Robert was dearly loved by Vicki Plunkett, his wife of 37 years; his children Mark (Jeanne) Plunkett, Lynn (Greg) Harrison, Lucy (Cj) Plunkett, and Bill (Linda) Tabor; his four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends. He is also survived by his twin sister Roberta (Rachel) Distefano.

There will be a service held at 1pm on Wednesday Dec. 4th, 2019 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Anyone attending is asked to arrive 20 minutes before the service.
