Patrick Martin McCauley, born July 23, 1946, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2016. The oldest of eight children born to William T. (Terry) and Helen J. (Furlong) McCauley, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Terry and Ed, and his loving wife Carol. He is survived by brothers Jeff and Kelly, sisters Gayle Ward, Eileen Stephenson, Marti Lundberg, daughters Erin and Erika McCauley, stepdaughters Nell, Barbara, and Anna McHenry, and son Fred McHenry, plus eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pat was a 1964 graduate of Ingraham High in Seattle. He was a hardworking and self-taught businessman who started out welding trailer hitches for U-Haul and advanced thru numerous positions from Seattle to California, Tennessee, and back to Seattle. He was a Regional Corporate President (RCP) in San -Diego, and Area District Vice-President (ADVP) first for the Southeast United States and lastly as ADVP for the Northwest United States including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. He retired to Yelm, WA where he was active in the Moose Lodge and was named a fellow, Past Governor of the Lodge and past State President for the Moose. He was a 32snd degree Mason and past Master Mason. He served as president of the Scenic Shores Home-owners Association and Water District.
More importantly, Pat was a survivor, a man that lived his values, spoke his mind, and did not suffer fools lightly. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather, a loyal friend, a supportive brother, and a dedicated son. In his teenage years he was devoted to his mother as she fought and lost her battle with cancer. He lost his right hand in an industrial accident at 18 and survived lymphoma as a young man. He viewed these events only as challenges to be overcome. He comforted his wife Carol through her fatal battle with cancer. Appropriately, he spent a most enjoyable last weekend on earth celebrating his granddaughter Cyera's high school graduation and dining and dancing with his daughter Erin and her family. He enjoyed his time with his family, his friends and colleagues, and the myriad of activities he shared with his son and closest friend & confidant, Maj. Fred McHenry, USMC (RET).
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 25, 11AM to 3:30 PM at the Nile Country Club in Mountlake Terrace. He will be interned with his wife at a private ceremony in Lacey.
Arrangements under the direction of Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville, WA.
