Don had a love of life and adventure, and he enriched our lives by living his. Growing up in Richfield on Wood Lake he developed a love of the outdoors and hunting. He loved his dogs and horses; days living on the farm he once looked after and spending time at his property on Lake Superior. Don was a salesman at heart, selling cars, nordic skis, and sheepskin coats that took him on the road both domestic and abroad and gifted him with wonderful stories to later tell his kids. He loved his local coffee shops and the friends he amassed there, with the old “Java Jack’s” on W. 46th Street having a special place in his heart. Don was a lifelong member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church and celebrated his 90th birthday at their 90th lutefisk dinner. He made many new friends at his new assisted living residence and acquired the nickname “The Don”.
A special thanks to the staff and medical professionals at Aurora on France Assisted Living and the Saint Croix Hospice team for the loving care they gave him.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Monday July 29, 2024, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church (4025 Knox Avenue South, Minneapolis). It will include a 10am Visitation and 11 am Memorial Service. Interment at Sunset Cemetery in Minneapolis.
