

George L. Lucas, age 86, passed away on Tuesday March 31, 2015 in Homewood, Alabama. Visitation will be Monday April 6, 2015 10a.m; at Raleigh Avenue Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama. Following visitation there will be a service at 11a.m. with Reverend Nic Seaborn officiating. The graveside service will follow at Ryan's Crossings Baptist Church in Maylene, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his wife Etoile Pearl Lucas. George is survived by his two sons, Robert Wade Lucas (Mary Jane) and Mark Steven Lucas, (Jane) five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. George grew up in Maylene, Alabama, which is close to Alabaster and Montevallo. His wife of 52 years, Etoile, also grew up in Maylene. After marriage they primarily resided in Homewood, Alabama. He served the Lord at Raleigh Avenue Baptist Church and loved his family very much. George was employed by Alabama Power Company as a Trouble Man and Lineman for 42 years. He was an avid hunter, especially quail and fisherman. George was very personal and funny. During his recent stay at Brookwood Hospital he had several of the staff members laughing at a variety of topics including his Hollywood name.
