

George Wesley Lucas, age 92, of Montevallo, passed away July 27, 2016. He was a US Navy veteran and was a retired truck driver with Teamsters. He was a member of Alabaster Church of God. After he retired, he and his wife dedicated themselves to missions all over the world, particularly Mexico and Paraguay. George was preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie Files; three brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Favonia Clark Lucas; daughter, Cynthia Lucas; grandchildren, Kristen Broussard; great-grandchildren, Braleigh and Jack Broussard; brothers, Ben, Donald, Stanley, and Pete; sisters, Frankie and Nan; and hundreds in Paraguay that call him “Abuelo.” Services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Alabaster Church of God. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, with a service at 10:30 AM, followed by a reception. His committal service will be held at 1:15 PM at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. Pastor Ken Stroup will officiate. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts go to the Paraguay Children’s Fund, headed up by daughter, Cynthia Lucas.
