Your mother was my roommate at the University of Tennessee. We lost touch after I transferred to BYU but we reconnected a few years ago on Facebook. I had hoped to see her in person the next time I visited my sister who also lives in Murfreesboro, but it was never meant to be and that really saddens me. Your mother was one of the loveliest women I have ever known. I was blessed to be her roommate. She was so kind, generous and so energetic. Such a lovely, lovely person. This really makes me sad that I have missed my opportunity to reconnect with her. Time waits for no one. I have been an active supporter of Relay For Life for the past 19 years since I lost my mother to cancer. This year, I will light a luminaria (or more) for her. What a bright light she was and still is. Heaven has gained an angel.

As I started thinking about what I would like to say, I had all the things in my mind like anyone would. Grieving, not understanding, she was just too young, sadness and crying. However, it occurred to me that this was all about me. I was focusing on myself.

I then started to think about Suzanne and her life and what she was all about.

When we are all born into this world, God gives each of us a talent. It is our job while we are here on this earth to learn what that talent is and make it grow. Some talents are very obvious, such as a huge guy that would play football or basketball. Others find their physical talents and excel such as a great golfer or a musician. Sadly, there are some that never find their talent.
But then I thought of what God’s most cherished talent that he would bless someone with. I believe that it would be the talent to love. Suzanne definitely had this talent and excelled with its growth
• She loved her mother and father dearly which I witnessed.
• She loved her sister and her brother and there was never an occasion that she did not tell me, whether by text, or the phone, or in person that she loved me. She was never apprehensive about telling anyone she loved them.
• She continued to love her husband even through their troubles.
• And she certainly loved Bethany and Scott. Her love for them focused her to raise them to be the best people they could be. I would say she achieved this.
• She also loved her step-children
• And oh my how she loved those grand babies.
• She loved all of her friends and always had an ear for their troubles and concerns. It has been wonderful to read all of the posts from friends that she touched through her life.

But as I studied about Suzanne’s capability to love, I realized that all of this came through the love that she HAS for Jesus Christ. It is for this reason that I know that she is with Jesus now and wearing a blazing white gown while trying out her new wings. I know this because as I was thinking of her the other night and grieving, I saw a shooting star. She was telling me she is okay as she jets around and trying out those wings. She always did drive fast.

Suzanne loved

And she taught me to look into the faces of the ones you love, for there is the face of God.
