Barton was born on August 16, 1936, to Lynn Eldon and Alma Viola (Schmidt) Morse in Galva, Kansas.
When Barton was a preteen the family moved to Assaria, Kansas. After graduating high school, Barton
attended Bethany College, where he earned a business degree. In 1958, Barton married Katherine Faye
Worcester from Hill City, Kansas. A year later their son, Lynn Eugene, was born. After graduation
Barton accepted a position in Washington, Missouri, to teach the seventh grade and coach basketball.
In 1961, their daughter, Catharina Darlene, was born. The following year the family moved to Monroe
City, Missouri, and Barton started teaching high school and supervising the cheerleading team.
In 1963, Barton felt God calling him to attend Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Missouri, and become a
minister in the Christian Church. While attending college he could be found preaching weekends, or
during the summer he could be found umpiring for Little League and Men's Slow Pitch Baseball. He
learned to operate a printing press and was responsible for all the printing at Revival Fires. After
Barton was ordained, he preached in Joplin, Missouri; Araphoe, Nebraska; Assaria, Kansas; Canadian,
Texas; and EI Paso, Texas. While in EI Paso, Barton was a missionary and printer for Spanish American
Evangelism. For 18 years he also preached at Mountain View Christian Church in Las Cruces, New
Mexico.
In 1994, Barton and Katherine moved to Danbury, Connecticut, where he had several small jobs that
filled up his retirement. He enjoyed ministry through bible teaching and praying, and going on trips to
India, where he shared the gospel, and Haiti, where he helped build a church. Barton and Katherine
lived there 20 years before moving to New Braunfels, Texas, in 2014.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Alma Morse, his youngest brother, Michael Morse,
and his sister-in-law, Jan Morse. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Katherine Morse; children, Lynn
Morse and wife Shannon, Catharina Day and husband Will; grandchildren: Kevin Flores and fiance
Kimberly, Christopher Flores, Briana Wiley and husband James, Crystal Kultala and husband James,
Rafael Chavez, Kaitlyn Werneburg and husband Matthew; great-grandchildren: Marivel Flores, Conner
Flores, Evie Flores, Logan Kultala and Wyatt Kultala. He is also survived by his younger brother, Kent
Morse and his sister-in-law, Sally Morse along with many nieces and nephews

Society, or Senior Ministries at First Baptist Church New Braunfels, or for the spreading of the Gospel
