Raymond D. Bliven, Jr. of West Nyack, New York died on February 10, 2020. He was 89. He was born on April 8, 1930 in St. Cecilia Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. His family moved to Valley Cottage, New York at a very early age. He is predeceased by his wife, Peg Bliven.
Ray served his country as a CPL in the Air Force during the Korean War. Ray worked for United Water as a Patrol Sergeant and Supervisor for the Water Shed Police. He also was a Deputy Sheriff sworn in on August 15, 1964. Ray retired in 1993 after 29 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 329 in Pearl River. He was also a member of the Rockland County Police Chief’s Association as an associate member. He belonged to the Elks Club in Nanuet, Korean War Veterans Eagle Chapter.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, William Daggett of South Nyack and his children Patrick and Carol Daggett and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his wife Margaret Bliven and five stepchildren and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Higgins Funeral Home New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack, NY. Interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, New York.
