

Kathy Latrese Saylor, age 64, of New Tazewell, TN passed away on Monday, September 13th, 2021 at Claiborne Medical Center. Kathy was born on December 12th, 1956 to Paul Mullins and Fronia Turner in Fort Wayne, IN.
Throughout her life, Kathy fulfilled many occupations. In her early career, she worked as a beautician in Atlanta, GA. In 2001, she graduated from the University of Virginia - College at Wise with a bachelors degree in Administration of Justice, working as a paralegal for several years. In addition, she obtained her real estate license and loved to remodel houses. Kathy was also the owner of the former “Paw Paw Patch” antique store in Lee County, VA.
Kathy was an avid antique collector, lover of all things Christmas, and was the biggest Tennessee Volunteers football fan. Aside from her copper red hair, Kathy’s trademark was her red Silverado, always sporting the latest model. Kathy was a fantastic cook and often baked cakes for parties and events. She enjoyed designing and sewing dresses, collecting Lee Middleton dolls, and going to festivals. She loved bluegrass music and singing for others. Kathy especially enjoyed spending time on the lake and “shopping a good sale.” Above everything, she took much pride in her family and loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Kathy leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Richard Saylor; a son, Brandon Powell; stepdaughters, Shelley Scenseney and Husband Dale, and Leslie Saylor; grandchildren, Chelsea Monroe and Husband, Caleb, John Powell, and Miles Powell; four great-grandchildren, Rylan and Bailee Powell, and Logan and Emma Monroe; a special uncle, Jimmy Wood and wife, Phyllis; lifelong friends, Cookie Russell and Rene Johnston; and her two dogs, Max and Maddie.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18th, 2021 at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell, TN. Graveside service will be held at the Harrogate Cemetery following the visitation with Reverend David Rose officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wise County Animal Shelter in Wise, VA or Manna House Outreach Center in Tazewell, TN in her memory.
