Ardis Gabbe Morriss

Ardis Joyce Gabbe Morriss passed away December 16, 2016 Ft. Myers, FL where she resided. She was Born February 5, 1927, Bay City, Michigan, the third child of Alvina Kipfmiller Gabbe and William Henry Gabbe. Ardis moved to Boston in 1950 and worked at M.I.T. where she met the love of her life, husband Ben. They moved to California and then to the Washington, D.C. area in 1961 where she resided until 2009. During this time she loved raising her children and volunteering at school. Ardis also enjoyed playing tennis, bowling and socializing with her many friends. After raising her children she returned to work for several years. With her husband’s retirement in 1993, they became “snowbirds”, spending several months each year in southwest Florida. They also enjoyed traveling the world, playing golf and spending time with grandchildren. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed golf well into her 80’s.

She is survived by loving children; Jim (Jennifer), Tom (Diane) and Kristin (Bob) and grandchildren – Zach, Josh, Danielle, Jason, Stephanie, Drew and Kip. Ardis was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ben, sister Arlene Hewes and brother William Gabbe, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 29 at 1:00 pm. At Edison Hall in Cypress Cove – 10200 Cypress Cove Dr. Ft. Myers, FL.
