
Catherine (Kay) Elizabeth Ogdon, 91, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Born Sept 6, 1927, in Champaign, Illinois, she was the daughter of Ola Myrtle (Farmer) and Arvey Kelley.
She married Staff Sgt Sam Rogers at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois (1951) and lived in Las Vegas, Nv, Anchorage, AK, Orlando, Fl, Phoenix, AZ and Waco, TX. After her divorce she married Richard Earl Ogdon in Fort Leonard Wood, MO (1960-79). She is survived by her daughters Marla Beth Ogdon (Cape Coral, Fl) and Regina Kay Ogdon (Cape Coral, Fl) and her only grandchild Quinlan Michael Ogdon.
She graduated from Champaign Senior High School in 1945 and moved to Boston where she worked at Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company from 1945-49. She returned to Champaign and worked at The News Gazette before starting her 27 year career at Burnham City Hospital. She worked as an Administrative Secretary and was promoted to Personnel Director where she retired in 1984. She moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 1985 and worked part time at Cape Coral Hospital as Gift Shop Manager for seven years. She then worked part time at Dr. John Young's office until 2006 and retired for good.
She became a member of the BPOE, Cape Coral Elks Lodge #2596 in June 1996 and was a past Exalted Ruler (2000-01, 2001-02, 2003-04), an eight year trustee and Recording Secretary for Board of Directors (2016).
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church (Cape Coral, Fl) and served as Chairman of the School Board (2012-13). She was very instrumental in helping them revamp the school's structure and policies during that time.
She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and watching General Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at First Round Draft on Del Prado Blvd from 1pm-3pm.
