

Ray Parkinson, 85, of Cape Coral and formerly of MD and NJ, peacefully went through the open door into the gates of Heaven on December 26, 2011. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Aug 16, 1926 to Albert E. and Letitia Grey Parkinson. He was a Veteran of WWII with the 11th Air Borne Paratroopers. He was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air, MD and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral. He enjoyed photography, football, the cello, reading, and helping others in the name of the Lord. Ray was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Tom Downey; and sister-in-law, Cynthia. Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 64.5 years, Jean; children, Sharon (Brian) of NJ and Anita J. of VA; grandchildren, Colleen, Paul, Kellie Lynn, Jennifer Ryan and Lorrie Kate; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy; brother, Edwin; sister-in-law, Lois and her family; nephew, Ron; nieces, Debbie Marshall and her family, Willy, Derek and Kyle, Nancy and her family, Debbie and her family and Robin and her family; and the rest of his loving family and many friends. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association, Hope Hospice, American Cancer Society, Salvation Army, First Presbyterian Church or the Methodist Children’s Home.
