Stanley Lee Emas passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from complications of lung cancer. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife, Ferne and children: Marshall (Janet) Emas, Lynda (John) Wilson, Kevin (Marilyn) Emas, and Ginger Emas Schlanger (Sean Tygrett). He also had eight grandchildren whom he adored: Sarah Wilson Rode (Brian Rode); Angela Wilson Riggs (Josh Riggs); Meryl Emas and David Emas; Rachel Emas, Erica Emas and Sam Emas; and Jacob Schlanger. He was the delighted great-grandfather of Aubrey Ann Rode.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 18, 1930, he and his wife, Ferne Molasky Emas, moved their family to Hollywood, Florida in 1970, and he considered himself a true Floridian. He served twice in the military. After his service, he worked for the May Company and Central Hardware, both retail businesses, for many years. He was also a partner in Gateway Fashions, a company which manufactured ladies’ dresses. He was a partner in Harris Manufacturing, which made airplane parts that were sold to McDonnell-Douglas. In 1971, he began selling acre-and-a-quarter lots in the Kendall area of Florida. He then trained to become a realtor and opened his own real estate school in North Miami Beach, where he taught students about real estate law and helped prepare them for the real estate exam.
He and his wife, Ferne, also owned and ran a Sir Speedy franchise in Ft. Lauderdale. After retiring from business, he served as a volunteer at the Boca Raton Hospital Cancer Center, a Rocking Chair Reader for children at Calusa Elementary School and a Mediator at the Palm Beach County Courthouse. Stan was charming, witty, a wonderful singer and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He never sought greatness, just goodness. And it was his goodness that made him great.
