

Alton was preceded in death by his former spouse, Wyota Hutchings Magness; parents, Joseph and Opal Magness; one son, Paul Magness; one daughter, Toni Hudson; one grandson, Ben Hudson; one sister, Mary Horton; and one brother, Larry Magness.
Alton is survived by his wife of 19 years, Eiko Magness of Weatherford, Tx; daughter Kellie Stinemetz and husband Richard of Arlington Tx; daughter Autumn Modgling and husband Joey of Arlington, Tx; son John Wheeler and wife Susan of Granbury, Tx; son Dale Wheeler and fiancée Brenda Broussard Trevino of Beeville, Tx; daughter Sherri Myers of Bastrop Tx; brother Dave Magness and wife Sharon of Mesquite ,Tx; sister Barbara Wilson and husband Danny of Arlington, Tx; sister Catherine Wadkins and husband Ed of Quitman, Tx; sister-in-law Nell Magness of Arlington, Tx; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Alton proudly served 25 years in the U.S. Navy as an Air Traffic Controller along with serving in numerous wars. Alton was an avid fisherman with favorite pastimes and hobbies of reading western novels, building model airplanes, crossword puzzles and western movies. Alton’s pride and joy was his collection of various ships. Alton worked and retired from The T after a career of 14 years. Alton loved a simple life surrounded by his family along with his love for animals.
