James “Jim” Hudson died at a local hospital, July 11, 2020 from complications of the COVID virus. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. Jim grew up on the family farm near Abbott, TX. He graduated from Abbott High School, Abbott, TX, Northwest Christian College, Eugene, Oregon, Phillips Seminary, Enid, OK. and TCU School of Education. His career included 15 years of ministry serving churches in Oregon, California, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Fort Worth, TX. He also was an educator teaching for 20 years in middle school and high schools in Castleberry HS, River Oaks, TX, Harwood Jr. Hi, Hurst, TX, and Brewer HS, White Settlement, TX. After retirement he returned to ministry and served as interim minister in First Christian Church, Albany, TX, River Oaks Christian Church, River Oaks, TX., St. John’s United Church of Christ, Fort Worth, TX, and Westwind Christian Church, Keller, TX.
Jim never knew a stranger and always found a way to strike up a conversation with anyone he was interested in knowing. Throughout his years of ministry and teaching he had a lasting and sometimes profound influence on young people and old alike. He had a way of putting people at ease and getting them to open up to him. He continued to learn about communication and counseling after his retirement. He taught Love and Logic to teachers, parents and even hospital staff. He also had a love of photography, writing and magic all of which he shared with students, friends, family, and TCU Harris College. He was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and had a soft spot for all children. He was a faithful member at Central Christian Church, FW, for 34 years, where he served as elder, teacher, youth sponsor and greeter. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central Christian Church, Fort Worth or Westaid Pantry with a Purpose, Fort Worth, TX.
Jim's memorial service was officiated by Rev. Al Munger on Saturday August 22nd at Central Christian Church and can be viewed by clicking here or by going to bit.ly/jimsmemorial
