Tommy Lee Connell, age 73 of Denton, Texas, died at his home on March 7, 2020. He was a devoted husband to his wife Billie (Summers) Connell. Mr. Connell was born in Gordo, AL, October 2, 1946. He was the son of the late Homer Pearson and Bernice (Junkin) Connell.
He entered the Navy where he proudly served his country for thirty-one years. He continued to serve his country by working in the House of Representatives for the First Congressional District of Florida as a military case worker. He is known for mentoring young sailors. His favorite saying is " the stupid shall be punished." Many young sailors heard this saying more than once. He always had a great attitude, wonderful personality. He truly cared for the sailors, his country and his God. He enjoyed playing golf and building model boats. After retirement he and his wife Billie enjoyed traveling by RV to 49 states.
Mr. Connell leaves behind his beloved wife, Billie. He was father of Alicia (Connell) Hubbard, Teresa (Connell) Deleconis, and Sheila Connell. Mr. Connell had five grandchildren, Taylor, Adian, Emma Grace, Ava Marie and Thomas Edward. Mr. Connell had two great-grandchildren, Garrett Michael and Avery Elizabeth; two stepsons, Shawn and Kelley Sweeney. He was the cherished brother of George Harold Connell.
The graveside funeral service will take place on May 8th 2020, 10:30A.M. at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL. Internment will follow in the Barrancas National Cemetery Pensacola. In lieu of flowers please send donations in his memory to Wounded Worriers or to the charity of your choice
