Seymour Lawrence Caine, 102, born on May 13, 1916 passed away at home on April 1, 2019. He was known as Larry, and born in the Hell’s Kitchen section of NYC. He is survived by his sons; Franklin and Joseph, his grandson, Alex, and his longtime personal assistant, Giorgi Kajaia. He is predeceased by his wife, Janice, and his mother and father, Esther and Alexander Cohen.
Larry was the owner of Bimini Yacht Club and Harbor Inn (now the Shipwreck Inn), Brielle, NJ. After graduating from NYU Law School, Larry worked for the NYC Transit Authority and enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII serving as an assignment officer at Will Rodger’s Air Base in Oklahoma. Larry was responsible for issuing an early release for Darrell Royal, the legendary Texas football coach, which enabled him to get the job. Larry was and will always be beloved by those who knew him. He left the service with the rank of 1st Lieutenant Retiree.
Larry loved his family, friends, the NY Giants and the Yankees. A funeral service will be held for Larry on Wednesday, April 3 at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Highway 35, Ocean, NJ at 1pm followed by a burial at Beth Miriam Cemetery, Neptune, NJ. The family will be sitting Shiva immediately following the burial until 9pm on Wednesday night.
