Lois Rae Vohs, 91, of Olathe, Kansas, entered into her eternal rest on Sunday, August 9, 2020. She was born to Harold and Florence Cornwell, in Osborne, Kansas, on March 2, 1929. She was the youngest of four children. Later in life she was blessed to have a wonderful stepmother, Gladys Cornwell, whom Lois loved dearly. She also adored her two surviving brothers, Kenneth Cornwell and Donald Cornwell. Her oldest brother, Hubert, preceded her in death earlier in life.

Lois attended Osborne High School and graduated with the class of 1947. After high school she attended beauty school in Salina. She graduated in March 1948, and began working. Her first job was in a beauty shop located in the back of the Grayce Dress Shop, located on Main Street.

She married Raymond J. Vohs in 1953. They moved to the farm and she opened an in-home beauty shop there for 7 ½ years. In August of 1955, Lois and Raymond welcomed Deborah Ann to their family. Lois was delighted to have a daughter! In June of 1958, they welcomed a son, Richard Raymond, and their family was complete! Lois’ children were the joy of her life. She was very proud of them and would share her pride with anyone she met!

In 1960, Lois and Raymond built their long-time family home in town. Lois relocated her shop to the new home. This enabled her to facilitate her two greatest joys…raising her children and taking care of her clients. Along the way, Lois and Raymond welcomed 4 grandchildren that they were incredibly proud of and loved a great deal: Deb’s son Vance and Richard’s children, Kathleen, Stephen and Abigail.

In 2010 Lois and Raymond moved to Olathe, Kansas to be closer to family. They became part of the Asbury Villa community, where they built great friendships, enjoying coffees and social get togethers. When Raymond passed away in 2015, the community continued to be a wonderful support and comfort to Lois. She had great friends who made sure she stayed busy and socially involved!

Lois loved her family greatly. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them! Her favorite times were when she had them all together and could feed them a big meal. She loved to cook, always eager to share recipes she received from her brother Don. Her granddaughter Abigail has fond memories of baking and candy making with her. She also loved to entertain her family with her playing of the organ. Richard and Deb always knew that their mom was their biggest fan! She always believed in them and made sure that everyone knew how proud she was of her family. She had a big heart and an energy that never quit.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Debbie Christ and her husband, Paul Walz, of Lincoln, Nebraska, her son, Richard and his wife, Christine Vohs, of Olathe, along with her grandchildren: Vance, Katie, Stephen (Ashley) and Abigail.
