Tom Wood, devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather of ten adoring grandchildren and follower of Christ, has passed into eternity to join his beautiful bride. He was preceded in death by wife Dottie and younger sister Bev. He is survived by sons Brad (Laura), Scott (Beth) and Gary (Christi), and grandchildren Britton, Talia, Olivia, Sierra, Amelia, Cameron, Aubrey, Joree, Christian and Sam. Born to Chuck and Taffy Wood, Tom was an Omaha native, Central H.S. and Omaha U. alum and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. After earning his business degree, he worked for General Motors and later Mutual of Omaha. Never losing touch as he moved around the country in the early part of his career, Tom and Dottie were married in 1958. They would move to California where they became proud parents of sons Brad and Scott. They moved back to Omaha in 1966 and had a third son, Gary that same year. They became life-long members of Morning Star Lutheran Church, where Tom's parents had been among the founding members. Tom would eventually rise to Vice President in Mutual, retiring in 1987 after a proud 35-year career. Along the way, his time away from work would be devoted to his sons and their many activities, particularly as a little league football and baseball coach. He also loved his Huskers and shared that passion with his sons as a long-time football season ticket holder. Tom's retirement activities included part-time work at Miracle Hills golf course and Accutrade (later TD Ameritrade). He was an active volunteer with Make-A-Wish and later manned the information desk in the Eppley Airfield main terminal. He also enjoyed participating in Kiwanis and had a wide circle of retiree friends. But his primary focus in retirement was his grandchildren – a passion that would sustain him in the years after Dottie's passing in 1998. Tom would also devote himself to the weekly study of God's word in those years and was a guide and teacher to his children and grandchildren throughout his life. He leaves an enormous legacy of love and the family that now mourns his passing is a testament to that love. We love you, Grandpa, and look forward to the day that we all see you again in the presence of Jesus. Today, the Lord is saying to you "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Enter a last name, full name or keywords in the search box. If your search is unsuccessful, first confirm your spelling.
Next, try removing the first name, as the person's known name may not be the name on record.
For an exact match using keywords, try adding quotation marks to a keyword phrase. For broader results, search by date or date-range..
