Juliette Mastry Pastirjak 96, a lifelong resident of St. Petersburg, died suddenly following hip surgery on Thursday, November 21, 2019. Born in LaCeiba, Spanish Honduras, her family moved to British Honduras (now Belize), and later immigrated to St. Petersburg when her father created an import/export business in Tampa. She graduated from St. Pete High School and Tomlinson Vocational Tech as an accounting major. She later became a well-known, successful realtor/broker in the St. Pete area, and served on several area Boards of Realtors. Well known for her energy and enthusiasm, Juliette was always very active in her community right up until her untimely death. Her community volunteering was extensive beginning with the Women’s Volunteer Ambulance Corps during WWII and included charities, libraries, hospitals, museums, and theaters. Most recently she volunteered weekly at Gulfport Public Library, St. Pete Beach Public Library and freeFall Theatre. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed shell collecting while a member of the St. Petersburg Shell Club. She touched many lives with her generosity, indomitable spirit, and feisty passion for life. Spending time with her family brought her the greatest joy and she cherished every moment with them. She will be deeply missed by her children, friends, family, and all who knew her. We will especially miss her amazing Lebanese cooking for us.
She was predeceased by her husband, George (Jack) Pastirjak. Juliette is survived by five children, Hedy Fagan, Sherry Kaufield, Nancy Parrish, Robert Pastirjak, and Cindy Hoskin, nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. She also leaves many Mastry nieces and nephews who shared her life. She is survived by her sister, Alice Mastry Giammaria, 90, of St. Petersburg.
Her wish was to be cremated. A memorial service and celebration of her life is planned for a future date. Contact with the family can be made to [email protected]
