

Geoffrey (Geoff) Robin Gove was born in San Mateo, California, on August 13, 1943, the son of Frank Walter Gove and Carol Marguerite MacDermott. He attended Hillsdale High School and San Francisco State College, before moving to New York City to pursue his career as a photographer. He worked as a photo journalist, photographic illustrator, and fine art photographer with Corbis and Image Bank/Getty Images. His work is exhibited on ArtWanted.com, viewbug.com, 500px.com and Flickr.com.
Geoff also worked as a real estate agent and as a driver for a local restaurant.
In 1973, Geoff met his wife, Rebecca, folk dancing. Rebecca is a dancer, and he would often visit her studio to photograph her dancing and choreography. In 1999 they moved to Bloomfield, NJ, marrying in 2008.
Involved in many environmental, historical and community organizations, he was a member of the Bloomfield Open Space Committee , the Steering Committee of the New Jersey Mac Users Group and an administrator for the “Citizens of Bloomfield” and “366 things to do in North Jersey” websites.
Geoff was a founding member of the Bloomfield Third Riverbank Association that was instrumental in saving 20 acres of land on Lion Gate Drive which will now become a public park.
Geoff died on his birthday on August 13, 2018 at age 75, in University Hospital in Newark, NJ.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Shaw-Gove and their two beloved cats, Zoey and Ziggy, his mother-in-law, Rose Shaw, “adopted cousin”, Edward Schmelz, and his many cousins in the Robinson, Miller, Gove and MacDermott “clans”.
