Robert William Allen

Robert (Bob) William Allen, 76, of Newnan, GA passed away peacefully at Southwest Christian Care in Union City on June 17, 2020. Bob was born in Macon, GA on August 9, 1943, the son the of late Sam and Martha Allen.

He received an Associate Degree from Middle Georgia State University and played baseball during his time there. Bob loved all sports, particularly college football. Bob was a die- hard Georgia Bulldog fan and attended many games over the years with his brother-in-law and closest friend, Tom Jarrard.

In 1965, Bob met the love of his life, Olivia Ann and knew from the start they were meant to be together. They married in 1967. They had 2 children, Kathy and Andy.

Bob graduated from Georgia State University in 1970 with a degree in Medical Technology. He had long careers with Upjohn Pharmaceuticals, Charlotte Memorial Hospital, and Newnan Hospital.

Bob went back to school and earned a MBA from the University of West Georgia in 1992. After obtaining this degree, he accepted the position of Regional Lab Director with Kaiser Permanente, where he retired in 2014.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He spent most of his later years bragging about his grandchildren, Sarah Kate and Will. He was a hard working family man with an infectious sense of humor and will be sorely missed.

Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Olivia Ann; children, Kathy (Ron) Smith and Andy (Jodi) Allen; grandchildren, Sarah Kate and Will Smith. Ron and Jodi are listed here as in laws, but to Bob - they were simply another son and daughter.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Flippen UMC Cemetery, McDonough, GA.

Memorial donations may be given to Southwest Christian Care, www.swchristiancare.org. The family is very grateful for the care and compassion they all received at their hospice facility.
